Our Story

SCCTV has been your hyperlocal connection to the northeast metro for more than 40 years. We feature professional videos of news and events happening in our 9 member cities including: Public-safety profiles, features highlighting city staffs and departments, city-council meetings, ribbon cuttings, parades, community concerts, festivals, sporting events, plays, and high-school graduations.

We work with member Cities and Townships of the Commission, as well as local, non-profit organizations and the business community, to provide professional, video-production services to inform the public about:

  • Positive stories about the people serving our member communities.

  • Information about government services, resources, activities and policies concerning how residents can use these services.

  • Stories featuring community events.

  • WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB? My favorite part of the job is telling the stories of people who’ve dedicated their lives to service in our member communities. It’s an awesome responsibility. We also have the ability to dive deeper than traditional broadcast-television.

MOST MEMORABLE STORY OR EVENT? There are many, but I remember a truly inspirational man who worked for the White Bear Lake Police Department. He had a circulatory illness, confined to a wheelchair, and had limited vision, but he was one of the happiest people I’d ever met. His mantra was simple: Do life with a smile, no matter what. Sadly he died shortly after, but his spirit remains with me so many years later.

WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME? I spend most of my free time with my kids. They include a herd of goats, a Chesapeake named Harry, and a loveable Lab named Gracie.

  • WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB? I really enjoy the stresses and “organic-ness" of live production. It’s a lot like being in a band. Everyone has a different responsibility to not only tell a story, but put on a show!

MOST MEMORABLE STORY OR EVENT? Roseville at White Bear Lake Football, October 11, 2024. I was using a handheld camera on the sideline. Late in the 4th quarter WBL threw a 20 yard pass where the receiver caught the ball right in front of my camera and ran in for a touchdown, sealing the win for WBL. The WBL team had me surrounded while they celebrated. So much was happening at once, but I did my best to capture it all.

WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME? I spend my free time hiking and canoeing in the summer, snowboarding in the winter, jamming away at the guitar, and bowling competitively in leagues around the Metro.

  • WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB? When we get the chance to cover really big games; whether that be Section Finals, State appearances, two high-ranked teams, or a similar situation

MOST MEMORABLE STORY OR EVENT? White Bear Lake vs. Hill-Murray Boys Hockey at Aldrich Arena in December 2019. White Bear Lake won in overtime, and our announcer yelled, “BILLY ROSE! WE WIN!”

WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME? Spend time with my wife and son, golf, fish, run, go to concerts, and spend time with friends

  • WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB? The variety of work that I do and still learning everyday about SCC and the Cable Commission.

MOST MEMORABLE STORY OR EVENT? We’ve had a lot of exciting events happening here at SCC but the most memorable for me will be moving to our new remodeled space.

WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME? Spend time with our grandkids and the whole family. I also enjoy playing pickleball and getting outside whenever I can to walk or bike.
